Benches #3: Busy on the Benches

The End Product: Beautiful Nook Benches!

We worked more on the benches the past two weeks.  We went from having a couple of forms made to having them done and painted!  We also got most the pillows added.  Still need to work on foam.  But we are loving our new space!
Dad lining up the four legs on each bench.  They were sent in about 1/2 inch

We first painted them brown ... didn't love them.  They looked Old School which might have worked in a different room with different fabric.

Here is our fabric choices (black curly is the pad, others are pillows)

After making them all we still weren't sure if they would fit.  They mostly did.

The kids love the HUGE storage space

cute storage, but hopefully they will stay out of them!

Kids!

#5 Boy was sure these were their new beds and wanted to get rid of his "old one"

#3 Girl climbed in the smallest of the benches

painted black with a little brown showing through

Found a sweet easy way to do the pillows

and sewed away while the kids made "families" the little ones being babies etc.

10 pillows ready to go (still have a few to add)

Dad measuring where to put the hinges

We also added padding to the bottom so they would slide on scratch

Putting the doors on

They close with a magnet

Ahh!  Beautiful!

We also added two holes to two of the benches for cords so we could use the plugs.  One in the back and one in the bottom.  That way we can plug the piano in and also some other electronics that can be stored inside the benches

We also added a big soft white rug.  Which goes perfectly for our prayer song that starts, "Let us gather in a circle..."

Younger boys enjoying the rug (yes, it will probably but gray in a week)

Love it! Just wish we could finish the last few details!
