This
week's focus for #2 Boy's "home schooling" was all about horses. On
Friday we checked out a bunch of books from the library so we could read
them all. The kids couldn't wait until Monday so we started learning
about horses on Friday. Most of the books were children nonfiction
though we did get a few fiction ones to enjoy some fun stories. We read
a lot about different types of horses, how to take care of them, and
the history of horses.
#2 Boy doing a 'horse' crossword puzzle
We played Horse Memory with different types of horses
Colored pictures of horses
Talked
about different marks on a horse's face: Star, Strip, Blaze, Snip.
Also talked about the marking on their legs: Stocking, Boot, Sock,
Fetlock
We also did a horse maze which was really complicated for #2 Boy but he finally made it through.
And Yes, we ate horses for lunch. Yum!
Today
was more of a craft day with the horses. This is #2 Boy mixing colors to
get purple while painting his wooden horse. During this time #4 Boy was
painting and decided to eat some paint. After I had cleaned #4 Boy up I
hear a 'spit spit spit' coming from #2 Boy. He turns around laughing and
declares that he ate the paint too. Gross!
We also made salt dough horse shoes. #2 Boy decided to also make a river and #4 Boy made a mountain.
For
our last craft we made this little guy...well, he was suppose to be
little on a toilet roll but that didn't work out so well, so we used the
salt carton. But, even if he is big, I still think he is cute.
Neigh! Neigh!
