Family Mission Statement

Inspired, in part, by Stephen R. Covey's "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families,"  Mom and I decided that we would spent family home evening working on our family mission statement.



We started with a brainstorming session, getting ideas of things that we wanted our family to do, be, go, etc. Below is a list of what we came up with. I thought is was both enlightening and comical. Hope you enjoy it:

  • Return to Heavenly Father - Mom
  • Go to the farm/camping - #1 Girl and #2 Boy
  • Be nice to each other - Mom
  • Go to sleep - #2 Boy
  • Go everywhere together -#1 Girl
  • Love everyone - #1 Girl
  • Go to the park - #2 Boy
  • Read books - #2 Boy
  • Have a clean house - #1 Girl
  • Be healthy - Dad
  • ..and strong! - #2 Boy
  • Have good hygiene - Dad
  • Be happy not sad - #2 Boy and #1 Girl
  • No be mean - #1 Girl
  • No crying - #1 Girl
  • Have charity for each other - Dad
  • Eat snacks and food - #2 Boy
  • Grow spiritually together - Mom
  • Participate and help at church - Dad
  • Hug and kiss each other - #2 Boy
  • Go on walks - #2 Boy
  • Always use nice voices and words - Dad
  • Jump on bean bag - #2 Boy
  • Serve together  - Mom
  • Be financially self sufficient - Dad
  • Go to other peoples' houses - #2 Boy
  • Have matching clothes - #2 Boy
  • Teach kids how to manage money - Mom
  • Teach kids the importance of money - Dad
  • Understand the importance of family - Mom
  • Teach kids to learn how to work and contribute to the family - Dad
  • Don't step on people - #2 Boy
  • Have obedient kids - Mom and #1 Girl
  • Understand the Atonement and how to apply it - Mom
  • Love Christ - Dad
  • Obey Jesus and follow his example - #1 Girl
  • Love others - Dad
  • Learn to set and achieve goals - Dad
  • Go to the store together - #1 Girl
  • Put stickers on people - #2 Boy
  • Learn how to do home projects - Mom
  • Follow the commandments - Dad
  • Watch movies - #2 Boy
  • Color together - #1 Girl
  • Candy - #2 Boy
