Laundry

As the kids are getting older I love discovering more ways in which they can help around the house. The kids have been helping sort out clothes and fold towels/rags for a long time. Recently #1 Girl has been getting excited to fold her own clothes. When diapers are done #2 Boy is often there beside me helping to stack and organize them (though these are not during regular laundry time). This last laundry day the kids did awesome and I loved feeling like we could really all work together instead of me trying to do it while entertaining the kids.
I had the kids unload the dryer and carry out the baskets full of laundry to the living room. We worked together to sort the laundry. #1 Girl started folding her own clothes. As I folded Dad and my clothes I asked her to go ahead and start on the other kids clothes. #2 Boy was interested in helping so I had him matching and sticking socks together and sorting out who the socks and underwear belonged to. #3 Girl did a great job at folding the rags (and later had help with the big towels). #4 Boy was happily napping during this time so that I didn't have that factor in there. We were able to get laundry done so quickly and the kids loved being more involved in it.

The Wonders of a Book

We went to the library a couple of different times last week.  The first time just to get books and the second time because they had story time.  My kids loved story time in VA and I am sure they are going to love it here.  What a wonderful thing having libraries so close.  I love going and picking out new books with the kids.

Story time was about Turtles.  They did a great job adding facts, fun stories and even a take home craft.  We are going to love this library's story time too!
#2 Boy and #3 Girl's turtles (#2 Boy was very precise where he put everything. #3 Girl was too.  Three legs on one side of the turtle and a pile of 'spots' on top.)

#4 Boy refused to make a turtle and insisted on putting something inside the bowl to eat.

Library Books

This would be why we usually go to the library once or twice a week.
Kids reading

This last week we went while #1 Girl was at a friends house. #2 Boy found a "Where's Waldo" book. We started looking at it together but after a little while I went to help #3 Girl and #4 Boy. #2 Boy stood that book up on the table and stayed hidden behind it for about 20 minutes. I wish I had gotten a picture. It was SO cute!
